Child Protection Policy
At Ikizu Community Development Tanzania, we are firmly committed to creating a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment for all children and young people we work with. We recognize our duty of care to safeguard every child from harm, abuse, neglect, and exploitation, regardless of gender, ability, ethnicity, religion, or background. All staff, volunteers, and partners are expected to uphold the highest standards of behaviour and are required to undergo regular child protection training and background checks to ensure children’s safety at all times.
We have clear reporting procedures in place for responding to any concerns, incidents, or disclosures related to child protection. These procedures prioritize the child’s well-being and confidentiality while ensuring compliance with national child protection laws and guidelines. Our commitment extends to building awareness among communities, empowering children to speak up, and continuously reviewing our practices to ensure a child-cantered, trauma-informed approach in all of our programs.
Safeguarding Policy
At Ikizu Community Development Tanzania, safeguarding is a core commitment across all our programs and operations. We are dedicated to protecting the health, dignity, and well-being of every child, young person, and vulnerable adult who engages with our work. This includes protecting individuals from all forms of abuse, exploitation, harassment, neglect, and harm. Our staff, volunteers, contractors, and partners are expected to uphold a zero-tolerance approach to any behavior that compromises safety or violates the rights of those we serve.
To uphold this commitment, we have clear safeguarding procedures and reporting mechanisms that ensure swift, confidential, and survivor-centered responses to any concern or allegation. We regularly train our teams on safeguarding responsibilities and risk management, and we continuously assess our systems to align with national legislation and international best practices. By fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and respect, we aim to create safe environments where every individual is protected, heard, and valued.
