What we do

Education

ICDTZ supports more than 48 primary and secondary schools across the Mara Region, working hand in hand with local communities to build and renovate classrooms and construct teachers’ houses. The organization promotes education for girls and vulnerable children, helping them stay in school and thrive. To strengthen learning outcomes, ICDTZ also supplies schools with books, learning materials, and other essential resources.

Health

Through its health initiatives, ICDTZ improves local dispensaries and health centers by providing medical supplies and essential equipment. The organization works to enhance maternal and child health services, ensuring safer pregnancies and healthier newborns. Community programs also promote better hygiene and sanitation practices in villages, helping to prevent disease and support overall community well-being.

Agriculture & Livestock

In the agriculture and livestock sector, ICDTZ provides farmers with training and extension services to improve yields and household income. It runs annual livestock vaccination campaigns and veterinary outreach programs to keep animals healthy and productive. The organization encourages farmers to adopt modern farming methods and supports value addition for crops and livestock products to help communities gain more from what they produce.

Culture & Tourism

To preserve and promote the rich Ikizu cultural heritage, ICDTZ organizes the annual Chamuriho Festival and other community events that celebrate traditional music, dance, and storytelling. The organization is developing Chamuriho Mountain as an eco-tourism site to attract visitors while creating local income opportunities. Additionally, it supports youth in arts and cultural projects, keeping traditions alive for future generations.

Water & Environment

ICDTZ helps communities gain access to safe and reliable water through projects like the Lake Victoria water pipeline and other local supply initiatives. The organization actively promotes tree planting, conservation, and environmental stewardship to protect local ecosystems. It also works with communities to improve solid waste management and maintain clean, healthy surroundings
